With sex robots gaining more steam in recent years, China has actually found a way to use the technology to their advantage.
It’s no secret that China is severely overpopulated. In 1979 it enacted the “One-Child Policy” which was the Chinese Government’s attempt at addressing the rapid, exponential population growth. The policy was originally intended to be phased out by 2015, but in 2016 it was instead changed to a two-child policy.
In 2010, the first sex robot was unveiled at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. At that point, “Roxxxy” as she was known, was considered to be somewhat primitive and even creepy to most. Over the past 7 years, more companies have joined the market and are now pushing sex robots deep into the realm of realism. One of the newest arrivals to the market named “Harmony” is considered to be among the best of the best in the sex robot industry.
With the popularity of sex robots gaining widespread attention, especially in China and Japan, China has subsequently experienced a large decrease in population growth. The Chinese government is rumored to be considering state sponsored “Robot Brothels” which would be free of charge to Chinese citizens. These robot brothels would be employed in hopes of reducing population growth enough to a point where the current 2-child policy could be phased out completely.
Dr. Xu Changi of Beijing University expresses concerns that sex robots could ultimately lead to a decline and perhaps a virtual halt of all human reproduction within China, ultimately leading to social collapse. “These robots are virtually perfect. They will eventually be able to replace women completely. They are designed without any common flaws found in human females, which may eventually lead to men seeing no purpose in interpersonal relationships with human females.
